1. we printed the design from a website for free. i used the same font in the same shade of brown to create a rsvp postcard. i bought 250 sheets of "natural" colored cover card and 250 envelopes from xpedx. (my mom used to do a lot of card-making and recommended xpedx for inexpensive paper in bulk. the guy at our local store was super nice & very helpful!)
2. we took the original copy of the invite & rsvp card AND the paper to staples. i left it there for about 24 hours while they made copies. then i walked next door to the fed ex store to use their industrial strength paper cutter. [note, this step took way too long. i was alone & tired & hungry and got super annoyed at cutting 200 pieces of paper!]
3. also at staples, i bought clear address labels which looked much more elegant than white. we used these to put my return address on the envelop and also for the rsvp "postcards" we created.
4. we bought regular stamps AND postcard stamps at the post office. we also had to get a few international/canadian stamps, but the entire cost was lowered b/c our rsvps were postcards.
(sorry these photos are blurry. the invites actually turned out super cute. simple, just like us!) 5. i assembled/stamped/labeled all the invites myself while FH worked on a grad school paper. i accidentally forgot to put postcard stamps on the rsvps for about 20 invites & had to open the envelopes (ARGH!). fortunately, the box of 250 was far more than enough to fix my error!
6. cost breakdown:
paper & envelops- $28
labels- $23
copying at staples- $89 (this would have been even cheaper if i hadn't grossly overestimated the amount of copies we'd need!)
stamps- $144
intl. postage- $7
total cost: $291 for over 200 invites!!!
