check lists

i love love love making lists.

wedding planning so far has required me to be organized and intentional without being compulsive. it's so exciting that some small details are getting checked off my to-do list!

wedding party recruited: check
ceremony site: check
officiant: check
pre-marital counseling set up: check
tux chosen/ordered: check
bridesmaids dresses chosen/delivered: check
main course decided on: check [Qdoba=yum!]
flowers/bouquets brainstormed: check
groomsmen gifts purchased: check
dessert [TN fudge pie sundae bar!!] picked: check
bridesmaids gifts ordered: check

the biggest challenge at this point is finding a place to have our reception. we don't want to have it at the church b/c we're planning a mini-reception for all of FH's students there. it would be awkward to have the reception being set up while they're standing around knowing they aren't invited to the reception b/c we just can't feed sooooo many people... but it'll be november [which means we can't just toss up a tent in the backyard]. and a lot of venues require you to use their on-site caterer. so yeah, tricky business...

another annoyance is wedding dresses. [everyone said that was one of the best parts of wedding planning! i had a feeling i wouldn't like trying them on & i was right. everyone said you feel beautiful and like a princess, wearing all sorts of elegant gowns. i don't like it at all. the slowness of the process really gets on my nerves.]

plus i have a few stipulations regarding this subject: it can't be heavy/i wanna be able to move all day while wearing my dress. i don't want it to be strapless. i don't want to pay tons of cash for it/i'd rather buy it used.

i've tried on a few dresses and all are pretty but none are absolutely thrilling. the one i ordered from nordstrom is too big/too long. otherwise, i think it has great potential. SO the search continues.
